Are you hopeless?

Hopeless means having no expectation of, or showing no sign of a favorable outcome, (a hopeless situation). Some synonyms which describe emotions that may indicate you being without hope are: despondent, despairing and desperate.

We strongly suggest that you read the definitions for those words in a good dictionary.

Without hope we cannot live. We may simply exist for a while. So the important question is “How do I become a person of hope and stop being hopeless?”

Some people even commit suicide. This is definitely not the answer. It only compounds, the problem. Let us see what God’s word has to say on hope.

“Blessed (happy and to be envied) is the man who trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.” (Jeremiah 17:7)

In whom do you trust and hope for help? Is it the God of hope? Listen to this prayer “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13). Do you believe that Jesus is God and man and that He died and rose from the dead in order to save you?

If so, you have the wonderful hope which is “… Christ in you, the hope of glory,…” (Colossians 1:27)

This good hope is a gift. We do not earn it. (II Thessalonians 2:16) – “Now our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God, even our Father, who hath loved us and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace.”

Do you know of any other God that promises eternal life to those who believe? My God does. (Titus 1:2) “In hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the world began.”

This hope is a vibrant, living hope. (I Peter 1:3) “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy, hath begotten us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”

How can one despair who has the promise of glory and eternal life? Included, of course, is a new body, one without sin or pain.

Yes, I have bright hope – My Lord Jesus Christ. May He become yours also. Amen.
