Students at Red Level Elementary School were treated to a rockin’ Black History program Thursday as fifth grade students gave a salute to black music.

The group was also entertained by the poem “I Rise,” performed by Trinity James, as well as a conversation between Henry Box Brown and Harriet Tubman, portrayed by Dameyuene Scott and Dashia James. Towanda Stinson also read the poem, “Dear God, Why did you make me black?,” and Bridges Anderson, director of LBWCC’s Upward Bound program, served as the inspirational speaker.
