Where to go to go?

That’s the question that many may ask when utilizing the Florala State Park in the future, since there appear to be no public restroom on the grounds.

Florala City Council members discussed the question at their last meeting after being informed by the state of the need to construct an additional set of bathrooms.

City Clerk Kathy Rathel said the only set of restrooms on the property is located inside the newly constructed Rodney J. Evans Conference Center.

“Which means when someone rents the center, they have to share the bathroom with the public,” she said. “For someone who’s not familiar with the property, they might think there’s not (a bathroom) there.”

It is estimated a new bathroom facility would range between $30,000-$40,000.

Rathel said council members agreed to seek additional funds from grants or other sources to make the project a reality.
