More than 1,400 people attended the Cookies with Characters event staged by Meredith’s Miracles at the Kiwanis Communnity Center on Saturday. Characters ranging from Mickey and Minnie Mouse to Sponge Bob to Cinderella and Prince Charming wowed the crowd in a stage performance before children had an opportunity to be photographed with each of them.

Meredith’s Miracles founder June Simpson said the even raised approximately $24,000 for the charity, helps the families of sick children with non-medical expenses associated with out-of-town health care.
