Despite falling 5-1 to Kinston, Pleasant Home girls coach Bradley Stephens said his team played the Lady Bulldogs “tough.”

“I was proud of them for that,” Stephens said.

Kinston scored three runs in the second inning, and two runs in the fourth inning.

Pleasant Home scored its only run in the bottom of the fifth inning when Robyn Weaver scored on an error.

Weaver was 1-for-2, and Megan Cook was 1-for-2.

“I felt like we held our own,” Stephens said. “It’s real early in the season.

“We’re still not hitting the ball well,” he said. “That’s the biggest thing we’ve got to focus on is the hitting, and not making errors in the field.”

The Lady Eagles then played Excel, where the Lady Panthers won 8-4.

PHS scored one run each in the first and second innings; and two runs in the third inning.

Caitlin Jernigan and Cook had two hits; and Jordan McGee and Ashley Copeland had one hit each.

“With this game, they just hit us,” Stephens said about Excel. “Excel is a well-coached team.”

Pleasant Home (4-2) will play Straughn at 9 a.m. today on Field No. 2 in pool play in the City of Andalusia’s Department of Leisure Services annual fast pitch softball tournament at the Andalusia Sports Complex.
