The man with local ties accused of a double shooting in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., last weekend has turned himself in to authorities.

Mike Morrison, public information officer for the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, said Mayatte turned himself in to the D’Iberville Police Department in Harrison County, Miss., and will be extradited to Walton County, Fla., Morrison said.

It was reported Mayatte at one time had a Straughn School Road address and has family living in Covington County.

Morrison said a multitude of agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service, Florida’s state attorney’s office, and the D’Iberville Police Department, assisted with the WCSO investigation.  The investigation is active and ongoing, he said.
