The Andalusia City School Board this week approved a school start date of Aug. 8, 2011.

The calendar includes a weeklong Thanksgiving break, two weeks for Christmas and Spring Break April 2-6, 2012.

Superintendent Ted Watson said the state legislature is looking at a statewide start date of Aug. 22, but a bill has not been passed.

“We can always amend the calendar, if we need to,” he said. “There may be some changes as well in regards to number of teacher days.”
