CARL M. BATES

Carl M. Bates, 75, of Andalusia, passed away Sat., March 19, 2011, in a Dothan hospital.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sun., March 20, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Boles officiating. Special music was provided by James Smith and accompanist C.L. Smith. Burial followed in the Carolina Baptist Church cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his daughter, Patricia (Richard) Howell of Andalusia; stepdaughters, Tami (Bobby) McDuffie of Andalusia and Teresa Partain of Wing; stepsons, Randy Ward and Roger Ward, both of Andalusia; sister, Twinette (James) Smith of Wetumpka; grandchildren, Candace Ward Hudson, Nekia Everhart, Larecia Laney and Taylor and Abby McDuffie; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Madison Ward; Wyatt, Hannah, Ezekiel and Benjamin Everhart, Brayden Laney and Jason and Danielle Walden; four step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and one nephew, Ken Elliott.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carnella Bates Hooks; father, Bobby Dennis Bates; stepfather, Bill Hooks; and step-grandsons, Cody McDuffie, Josh Partain and Randall Walden.

Serving as pallbearers were Johnnie Ward, Ken Elliott, Roger Ward, Randy Ward, Kendall Elliott and Bobbie McDuffie. Honorary pallbearer was Elton Taylor.

JAMES EARL WILLIAMSON

James Earl Williamson, 50, of Atlanta, formerly of Andalusia, passed away unexpectedly Fri., March 18, 2011, at his home in Georgia.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., today, Tues., March 22, at the Rose Hill Church of Christ with Speaker C.H. McCrory officiating and burial following in Rose Hill Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to services.

Survivors include three brothers, Jerry Williamson of Andalusia, Gary Williamson of Milton, Fla., Terry (Jill) Williamson of Gantt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Annie Clyde Williamson.

Serving as pallbearers will be his brothers and nephews.

JANET H. JOHNSON

Janet H. Johnson, 64, of Trussville, passed away March 19, 2011.

She was the owner of Jan’s Place Condo Rental in Panama City, Fla., and was preceded in death by her parents, J.C. and Mana Hassell, and two brothers, John Allen Hassell and James Donald Hassell.

Services will be on Wed., March 23, at 3 p.m. in the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens’ chapel with burial in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, V. Gerald Johnson; sons, Gerald Patrick (Moriah) Johnson and Michael K. Johnson; stepmother, Mildred S. Hassell; granddaughter, Mackenzie Watson; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Jefferson Memorial Trussville is in charge of arrangements.
