Deputies dispatched for a welfare check last week arrested a man for whom they had warrants and added a manufacturing count to the charges against him.

Deputies Randy Givens, Heath Kelly and Kyle Adams were dispatched to conduct a welfare check on Adam’s Pond Road in Onycha. With the home owner’s consent, they entered the home to check on a child.

While there, they made contact with Hunter Levi Saultz, 22, for whom they had warrants. In the process of the welfare check, the deputies noticed five unopened boxes of store brand pseudoephedrine on a bed in a bedroom identified as one occupied by Saultz.

Drug Task Force Commander Mark Odom was notified and responded to the scene. Odom determined through his investigation that the boxes had been purchased and were possessed with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine.

Saultz was charged with unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance in the second degree. His bond was set at $200,000.
