Event for former ‘Bama player tonight

Former UA and NFL star Kevin Turner will be in Andalusia tonight in an effort to educate people about ALS, commonly referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s disease.”

Turner, who was diagnosed with the progressive neuromuscular disease that causes the degeneration of nerve cells in the brain and spinal column, has started the Kevin Turner Foundation.

He will be at the PowerSouth Conference Room from 6 until 8 tonight, Sat., May 26, and will be recognized by the Covington County Chapter of the University of Alabama Alumni Association for his efforts.

There will be a catered meal provided by David’s Catfish restaurant. Cost is $10 per plate.
