Starting today, Andalusia’s varsity softball team will play its next four home games at LBWCC.

The Lady Bulldogs will call the Lady Saints’ practice and game field home against Opp tonight, Headland on April 5, Greenville on April 19 and Ashford on April 21.

The annual Spring Fling Classic Andalusia High School fast pitch softball tournament slated for Friday and Saturday will remain at the Andalusia Sports Complex.

City of Andalusia Director of Leisure Services Dwight Mikel said the AHS softball team’s home games were moved because of the on-going construction at Johnson Park, where the new Legends Fields are being built.

“We’ve always said the youth of the program will recieve priority,” Mikel said. “We’ve moved the adult softball and high school softball, which have borrowed our facilities, to another location.”

Mikel said the move will last for the remainder of the season, and that next year, the adult and high school softball leagues will move back to the complex.
“We’re going out of our way to make arrangements for them to play at the junior college,” Mikel said. “It was one of those things we knew was coming.
“We will be supporting them by prepping the field for them, and that nature at LBW,” he said.
