Andy tennis teams beat Miller

Andalusia’s boys and girls tennis teams swept T.R. Miller Tuesday at the LBWCC tennis courts.

The teams beat T.R. Miller by the same score of 7-2.

Andalusia lost two singles and and one doubles match against the Tigers.

Andalusia’s Jackson Moore, who normally is the No. 4 seed in singles for the Bulldogs, defeated T.R. Miller’s Taylor Terry 8-2 in No. 2 singles.

AHS boys tennis coach Perry Dillard said Moore did a great job filling in for Mayur Patel, who had an abdominal hernia. However, Patel did play in No. 1 doubles.

“He played really well for being two spots above what he normally is,” Dillard said.

Andalusia’s Alex Evans lost to T.R. Miller’s Nick Dorso 8-8 in a tiebreaker in No. 1 singles; Andalusia’s Johnathan Wiggins defeated T.R. Miller’s Michael Kast 8-1 in No. 3 singles; Andalusia’s Brandon Scruggs defeated T.R. Miller’s William Jones 8-2 in No. 4 singles; Andalusia’s David May defeated T.R. Miller’s Ed Hines 8-0 in No. 5 singles; and Andalusia’s Ellis Parker defeated T.R. Miller’s Patrick Taylor 8-6 in No. 6 singles.

In doubles, Patel and Evans lost to Dorso and Kast 8-2; Moore and Tucker Foshee defeated Terry and Jones 8-2; and May and Scruggs defeated Hines and Taylor 8-3.

Andalusia’s Aubrey Boyington defeated T.R. Miller’s L. Hetherington 8-6 in No. 1 singles; Andalusia’s Lauren Beasley defeated T.R. Miller’s E. Nelson 8-2 in No. 2 singles; Andalusia’s Anna Bay McCord defeated T.R. Miller’s D. Hetherington 8-6; Andalusia’s Jennifer Botta lost to T.R. Miller’s L. Burkett 8-3 in No. 4 singles; Andalusia’s Maggie Jones defeated T.R. Miller’s A. Carlson in No. 5 singles; and Andalusia’s Meredith Tillman defeated T.R. Miller’s E. Atthouser 8-6 in No. 6 singles.

In doubles, Boyington and McCord defeated L. Hetherington and D. Hetherington 9-7; Beasley and Botta defeated Nelson and Carlson 8-6; and Jones and Tillman defeated Adams and Atthouser 8-1.
