Thousands attended the Rodeo concert Friday night.

Country rapping sensation Colt Ford, Daphne native Aaron Parker and Opp’s own Martin McDaniel rocked Channel-Lee Stadium last night to kick off the 51st annual Rattlesnake Rodeo.

If you missed last night’s festivities, don’t worry, there’s plenty for the whole family beginning with a 5K run/walk this morning starting 9 a.m. at Opp High School. Cost is $25.

For motorcycle enthusiasts, there’s the first ever Rotary-Rattler Ride beginning at 9 a.m. at Doc’s Country Store and ending at the rodeo. Cost is $20 and includes admission to the rodeo.

Take a walk around the track and visit the vendors, including airbrush T-shirts, handmade musical instruments, Alabama and Auburn shirts, marshmallow shooters, crochet hats, jewelry, handcrafted silver spoon jewelry, woodworking, handmade soaps and lotions and veterinary merchandise.

For the kids, there will be kids’ games and more.

If your tummy starts growling, there are many options with which to satisfy it, including kettle corn, roasted sweet corn, chicken, lamb, beef, funnel cakes and nachos, lemonade, tea, corn dogs, shaved ice, peanuts, Greek food, grouper, fries and hush puppies, fried snickers, fried alligators and pizza.

Don’t miss the snake races and snake shows, local entertainment, the famous greasy pole climb and the buck dancing contest.

For the night crowd, there’s plenty of entertainment on tap, including Reluctant Saints, Tambry Nix, Scott Haggard, Greg Bates and Rodney Atkins.
