There’s a new No. 1 in town.

After Straughn defeated Headland last week in area action, the Tigers were voted by the Alabama Sports Writers Association to be the top-ranked team in the state in Class 4A.

Straughn improved to a 21-4 record after the area series sweep over the Rams, where in the second game the Tigers won 2-1 in 11 innings.

The Tigers will play host to rival Andalusia tonight in area action.

In softball, Straughn held steady at the No. 6 spot.

The Lady Tigers will play host to Andalusia’s girls team tonight in area play.
