Chief Deputy David And-erson said the incident began shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday when a report of suspicious activity on County Road 34, just south of Anda-lusia, was called into law enforcement.

“Right before that, dispatch had received a call that two trucks were traveling at high rate of speed in a reckless manner,” Anderson said.

He said the two trucks were found wrecked on Sammy Brown Road off County Road 32.

Two subjects, later identified as Shauna M. Spears and Chadwick Cook, had ran from the vehicle and into the woods, he said.

“The driver of the other driver was the owner of the property that had been burglarized,” he said.

At the scene, deputies arrested Spears, 20, and charged her with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief, first-degree theft of property and third-degree criminal trespass. She currently remains in the county jail on a $36,000 bond.

On Monday, deputies located and arrested Cook, 28, and charged him with third-degree criminal mischief, first-degree theft of property and third-degree criminal trespass. He also currently remains in the county jail on a $16,000 bond.

Anderson said a search warrant was executed at the couple’s home, where deputies recovered numerous stolen items containing parts of central AC units, brass fittings, wires and other items.

He said the case remains under investigation with further charges pending.
