LBW grad numbers ‘historical’

LBW Community College marked a milestone Friday with the largest graduating class in the institution’s history.
“There were 342 students to complete requirements for a degree or certificate,” said LBWCC President Dr. Herb Riedel. “We also saw the largest group to participate in the graduation exercises with 183 graduates from all our campus locations.”
The record completion is reflective of the increased enrollment over the course of the last few years, he said.
“During this time of economic difficulty, people are more than ever aware of the educational value we offer at LBW,” he said. “Everyone at LBW has been working really hard to recruit students and help them succeed once they are here.”
Summer enrollment last year hit a 10-year high, due in part to the first-ever federal Pell Grant availability for the term.
“We recently received word from the U.S. Department of Education that the Pell Grant will again be available for qualified students this summer term.”
LBWCC offers associate degrees and certificates in academic and technical programs. Summer term enrollment is currently underway, with classes slated to begin May 25. For more information, call (334) 222-6591 or visit the website at www.lbwcc.edu.
