The Opp community is grieving today after four members of a local family were killed in New Brockton in a two-vehicle accident with a dump truck Friday.

Reports indicate the accident occurred at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 84 and Ala. Hwy. 122 between a Buick sedan and an APAC dump truck.

Passengers in the Buick – Brandy Danley, John C. Danley, Raynell Danley and Dianne Spurlin – were all killed in the accident.

Coffee County coroner Tim Whitehead said John C. Danley was driving the vehicle. His wife, Raynell; daughter, Dianne Spurlin, and granddaughter, Brandy, were passengers.

Reports indicate the accident tied up traffic in the area for hours. The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the New Brockton Police Department.

At present, fundraising efforts are under way in Opp to help the family with final expenses. The Star-News will continue to update this story with new developments.
