The South Alabama 6-and-under All-Stars softball team finished as the runner up in the Babe Ruth state tournament today at the Andalusia Sports Complex.
Alex City beat South Alabama 22-15 today to get the sweep and the title.
Alex City advances to the regional tournament in Virginia later this month.
8-and-under All-Stars
In other action, the South Alabama 8-and-under team eliminated PCI with a 7-3 victory this afternoon.
South Alabama scored five runs in the first inning, one run in the second inning and one run in the fifth inning for the win.
Maggie Furr was 2-for-4 with one run; Brooke Mancil was 3-for-4 with two runs; Ava Bailey was 2-for-3 with one run; and Alyssa Stewart was 1-for-3 with a home run for South Alabama.
South Alabama will play Covington County today at 3p.m. in the championship round.
14-and-under
Elba’s 14-and-under All-Stars won the state tournament this afternoon, despite an 11-2 loss to the Riptide.
The Riptide were not a part of the state All-Stars tournament. It is a travel ball club.
