Bobcats to play W.S. Neal in jamboree

Tomorrow night, Opp head football coach Jack Whigham will finally get a good look at his team as the Bobcats face W.S. Neal in a preseason jamboree game at Channel-Lee Stadium.

Whigham said he doesn’t know if the team is ready for a real-time game situation.

“We’ve got a long way to go,” he said. “But, we need to have something like this to see where we stand.”

The younger players will play about two-thirds of the game, while the older players will play the last third of the game, Whigham said.

“We’re just so inexperienced,” he said. “I hope to see that these guys are ready to play, so we know who to count on to be starters.

“Hopefully, we’ll see more of that, rather than guys that aren’t ready to play,” he said.

Whigham said he has used a more physical approach to practice during the preseason, and added he would like to see that at the game tomorrow night.

“I think we’re ready to play,” he said. “We’re tired of practicing against each other. Hopefully, we’ll show up playing well Thursday night.”

Kick off in Opp is at 7 p.m.
