It was a back and forth contest between Andalusia and Kinston Thursday night in varsity volleyball action, but AHS head volleyball coach Angie Grimes said the girls showed the most “hustle” on the court.
Andalusia’s varsity squad fell 3-2 to Class 1A’s No. 7 Kinston 3-2 (25-20, 15-25, 26-28, 25-21, 11-15) in regular season action. The junior varsity squad also lost 2-1 (25-20, 23-25, 13-15).
“I thought the girls played well,” Grimes said. “They showed a lot of hustle on the court. I thought both JV and varsity teams played well.”
Grimes said she’s made a few changes on the varsity squad, and likes the result.
“We’re just going to keep working on things to keep improving each and every game,” she said.
Andalusia will hit the road next Thursday, and will play Headland and Straughn in an area tri-match.

The Lady Bobcats beat the Lady Tigers 25-21, 25-17, 22-25, 25-16 on Thursday night.
“It was a tough loss,” SHS coach Marc Tracy said. “We played pretty hard. I think we were pretty tired for part of it. They played hard, and that’s the biggest thing.”
In junior varsity action, Straughn won 2-0 (25-18, 25-11).
Straughn will play in Geneva for a varsity tri-match against Carroll-Ozark and Geneva next Tuesday.
