Lady Bulldogs take area lead

Andalusia’s Lady Bulldogs solidified their lead in Class 4A, Area 3 with 3-0 wins over Ashford and Headland Thursday night at Headland.

The Lady Bulldogs beat the Lady Yellow Jackets 25-9, 25-17, 25-21; and the Lady Rams 25-11, 25-20, 25-15.

With these victories, the Lady Bulldogs are the only team in their area that are undefeated.

“I’m glad we’re leading in the area,” AHS volleyball coach Angie Grimes said. “We ended the week on a good note.

“The girls are saving their best for the end of the season,” she said.

Against Headland, Omarria McGee, Shambrieka Burnett and Alison Daniels had 11 service points each. Daniels and Shi’Amber Townsend had 10 kills each. Kenna Edmondson had 22 sets for kills for the Lady Bulldogs.

Against Ashford, McGee had 17 service points, Daniels had 13 kills and Townsend added eight kills.

Andalusia will wrap up its regular season area play on Tues., Oct. 4, at home against Ashford and Straughn. This will be the Lady Bulldogs’ senior night.

The area tournament will take place Oct. 11.
