The Opp Lady Bobcats bounced back from a hard loss to Andalusia earlier this week, and beat Straughn 3-0 in regular season volleyball action Thursday night at OHS.

Opp topped the Lady Tigers 25-17, 26-24, 25-12.

OHS head volleyball coach Christie Spurlin said her girls had too many “errors” in the second, which netted a close score.

“It was silly errors on our part — just tipping and hitting errors,” she said.

Spurlin said one thing the Lady Bobcats will be working on on Monday is blocking to get ready for Geneva, which is Opp’s last area match of the regular season.

For Straughn, Lady Tigers coach Marc Tracy said he felt as if the girls lacked one key element.

“It was tough,” he said. “We didn’t play real hard. I fell like the intensity wasnt there.

“You’re talking about a rival game,” he said. “To me, you shuld be ready to play. It really seemed like to me that Opp cared more about beating Straughn, than Straughn did about beating Opp.”

In junior varsity action, the Lady Tigers won 2-1.

Straughn will play host to Zion Chapel next Tuesday for its senior night. The junior varsity squad will play at 4, and the senior recognition ceremony will take place immediately following.

The match against Zion Chapel will be Straughn’s last home game of the season.

Opp will will travel to play rival Andalusia next Tuesday in regular season action. The junior high squad will kick off its match at 4 p.m.
