As the cool breeze of autumn blows through the trees, the leaves float to the ground all around Covington County.

Fall is in the air, and as some might say, “Finally.”

After this year’s scorching summer, the switch to cooler temperatures is a welcome change and a sign that the holiday season is just around the corner.

Star-News staffers recently traveled throughout the area to find some of the most beautiful fall scenes and came back with photos that paint a beautiful, vibrant picture of this place we all call “home.”

For those looking to take in the fall foliage, try locations in the Conecuh National Forest, which is where Andrew Garner, sports editor, captured the tranquilness of watching the sun hit the leaves just right, or maybe at Lake Frank Jackson in Opp. There, Kendra Bolling, copy editor, brought back pictures that conjured thoughts of winds carrying paintbrushes dipped in copper, magenta and gold.

In Florala, one can see the clover carpeting the ground in a vibrant red.

In Gantt, the sun glinting off the waters of Pt. A and Gantt Lake dances like flames – a sight captured by Nancy Blackmon, Star-News columnist and lake resident.
