Red Level will play host to its 14th annual boys and girls invitational Christmas tournament today, Thursday and Friday.

There are eight teams participating in each tournament.

On the boys side, RLS will compete with St. Luke’s, Straughn, McKenzie, Brantley, Flomaton, Opp and Georgiana.

Today’s boys games are: Opp vs. Georgiana, 10:30 a.m.; Straughn vs. McKenzie, 1:30 p.m.; Brantley vs. Flomaton, 4:30 p.m.; and Red Level vs. St. Luke’s, 7:30 p.m.

“We’re just going to have to take it one game at a time,” RLS head boys basketball coach Allen Catrett said. “They should all be pretty good match ups. We’ve got a lot of good teams in the tournament.”

On the girls side, the host Lady Tigers will compete with Highland Home, Luverne, Georgiana, Straughn, Brantley, Andalusia and Elba.

Today’s girls games are: Georgiana vs. Luverne, 9 a.m.; Straughn vs. Brantley, noon; Andalusia vs. Elba, 3 p.m.; and Red Level vs. Highland Home, 6 p.m.

SHS girls basketball coach Scott Kinsaul said his team’s game today against Brantley will be the first test his girls have seen this season.

“We’re going to be playing a great team in Brantley,” Kinsaul said. “They’ll be one of the best teams we’ve played.

“We’re going to take it one game at a time,” he said.

Admission to the tournament is $6 per person.
