Everything from fundamentals to playing their hearts out is on the table tonight for a few of Pleasant Home’s senior basketball players.

PHS will play host to Geneva County for its homecoming and area contest, where the girls will tip off at 5:30 p.m.

“It’s going to be a great game with a great crowd,” Lady Eagles senior Kendra Bryan said. “We need to focus on rebounding the ball and putting the ball in the goal on offense.”

Jeffrey Slaughter echoed what Bryan said about “rebounding.”

“We just need to rebound and play our hardest to make good passes,” Slaughter said. “We need to get out there and play like its our last homecoming and play our hearts out, leaving everything on the court.”

The last time Pleasant Home faced Geneva County, the girls fell 52-50, while the boys won 66-31.

Senior Mary Schwartz said tonight is going to be “great” for both teams.

“If we play like we’re supposed to with our heads on straight and hearts for the Lord, He will bless us with strength and the abilty to win,” Schwartz said. “I hope we put on a good game for everyone at the game to enjoy. It’s our year to go out with a bang.”

Every homecoming for seniors will give memories that will last a life time.

For Josh O’Neal, tonight’s match up will be a lot “better” than the first time.

“It’s going to be a good game and a better match up than the last time since Geneva County has picked up a new player,” O’Neal said. “We just have to come out and play like we’ve been coached to play and it will make this a homecoming game that for the seniors we’ll never forget.”

Fellow senior teammate Kaleb Powell is confident his Eagles team will win tonight.

“It’s homecoming, so there’s going to be a good crowd and you can’t let them down,” Powell said. “It’s going to be a memorable experience, knowing it is my last homecoming game ever, but it means a lot and I’ve enjoyed all the years I’ve had playing.

“If we play Pleasant Home basketball, and get after it, then we’ll come out with the ‘W,'” he said.
