Davidson sets great example

Kudos to Cancer Freeze organizer Caleb Davidson and all who supported him in his annual quest to help cancer patients this past weekend.

A few years ago, Davidson started the winter event on Lake Jackson to help defray expenses of families whose loved ones are fighting cancer. This year’s event was the biggest ever, raising almost $30,000 for three area families. The money raised will got to the families of 2-year-old Cooper Sasser; 20-year-old Ayla Powers, and 47-year-old Michael Harrison.

While Davidson was awed by the support, he was more excited that three cancer survivors who have benefited from prior events – Julie-Layton Bryan, Catie Rhodes and Joy Burgans – were able to attend.

“That was the best part of it all, to have all of them here from years past,” Davidson said.

Davidson reminds us of what one person with dogged determination can accomplish.
