Opp’s Brady Jowers had 12 strikeouts and allowed one hit in seven innings to help lead the Bobcats to a 7-0 area victory over Luverne on Tuesday night and the area title.

With this victory, the Bobcats finished the regular season as the No. 1 seed in Class 3A, Area 2, and will host the first round of the playoffs, which begin on Fri., April 20.

“I have to give credit to my assistant coaches (Tuesday night),” OHS coach Michael Cassady said. “I’m really proud of my assistant coaches.”

Cassady noted that assistant coach David Buckelew, who calls the pitches for the Bobcats, did an “excellent job.”

“He (Jowers) pitched really well,” he said. “He had three Ks (strikeouts) looking, and nine swinging.”

Jowers’ only hit came in the first inning of the ball game, Cassady said.

T.J. Register went 2-for-3 to lead the Bobcats; Dane Buckelew went 2-for-4; Russell Mosley went 2-for-2; Trey Short and Thomas Weed went 1-for-3 each; and Hunter Roeser went 1-for-4.
