Solid pitching performances for Covington County’s 16-to-17-year-old Babe Ruth baseball team on Monday night helped lead it to a doubleheader sweep over Butler County at LBWCC.

Covington County beat Butler County 6-3 in the first game, and won the night cap, 5-1.

Ross Graham threw a complete game and allowed no walks to help lead Covington County.

“He had one heck of a game,” CC coach Tyler Wilson said. “That was hit first start this summer. He had command of all of his pitches.”

Wilson threw three different pitchers in the second game against Butler County. All pitchers allowed one hit.

Peyton Maddox pitched the first inning; Taylor Messick threw the next two innings; and Austin Leverington threw the final two in the win for CC.

“All of our pitchers did well,” Wilson said.

Behind the plate, Jud Rogers and John Bess went 2-for-3 each. Rogers had a single and a double; and Bess had two singles.
