Opp blew the game wide open with five runs in the first inning and went on to beat Crenshaw County 15-5 in six innings in the 13-to-15-year-old Babe Ruth District Tournament on Thursday night at Crum Foshee Field.

Tanner Duffell claimed the win for Opp on the mound.

Eli Johnson and Collin Holloway had two hits each for Opp to lead the Bobcats. Johnson had two singles, and Holloway had a single and a double.

Cale Pierce had a triple; Brady Weatherford, Dalton Tidwell and Johnny Saunders had one hit each for Opp.

After Opp’s solid start, the Bobcats went on to score one run in the second inning, two runs in the third inning, three runs in the fourth inning, one run in the fifth inning and three runs in the sixth inning.

Opp will face Kinston tonight at 5:30 in the second game of the winner’s bracket. Additionally, Covington County will face Ariton in the night cap at 8.

Crenshaw County drops down to the elimination bracket, and awaits the loser of Saturday’s 11:30 a.m. Crenshaw County’s next game will be at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Andalusia will face the winner of Ariton-Covington County at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday in the semifinals of the winner’s bracket.
