It’s time to pull out those too small winter jackets and jeans and make ready for the annual Little Lambs consignment sale.

The benefit of the event is two-fold – moms get a clean closet while earning a little extra money by selling those items at the upcoming fall sale.

Organizer Shirley Tew said there are two new “and very exciting changes” to this year’s sale.

“We’re going to do a two-day event, and there is a new location,” she said. “For the first time, the sale will be held on a Friday night, Nov. 2, from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m., and again on that following Saturday from 7 a.m. until noon.

“Oftentimes it’s hard for moms or those who work to get there on that Saturday during that window,” she said. “This new time gives options.”

The new location, she said, is the Guardian Angel Christian Academy building on Ala. Hwy. 55.

This annual event is sponsored by the Little Lambs Council, a group of Christian women dedicated to helping local mothers sell their gently-used clothing, buy gently-used clothing for their own children and raise money for a local charity helping women and children in the community.

“We’re looking for used clothing – both for children of all ages and maternity clothes – toys, books, shoes and furniture,” Tew said. “So many appreciate this sale. It benefits so many.”

To participate in this consignment sale, sellers must pay a $7 registration fee and commit to work a three-hour shift before, during or after the sale. Sellers are not required to be present during the sale, she said.

“And to thank the sellers for participating, they will have the opportunity to shop on the Friday evening from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., before the sale opens to the public,” she said.

“The more sellers we have, the bigger the assortment of items we have to offer,” Tew said. “Furniture items, such as cribs and high chairs, strollers and car seats, anything of that nature is greatly needed.”

Sellers must have at least 25 items. Sales are split with 75 percent going to the seller and 25 percent to the LLC, which will help fund a local charity.

“This is a great opportunity for parents who are looking to outfit children in nice clothes at very reasonable prices,” Tew said. “So, it works on two fronts. It helps the families in our area, and it benefits a great cause.”

Deadline to register is Oct. 26, and packets are available locally at Blackston Quality Eye Care and at the front office of Andalusia’s First Baptist Church or a Covington Pediatrics.
