An Opp man, accused of enticing a 13-year-old boy and described as a “possible flight risk,” was jailed late Thursday by the Opp Police Department.

Sgt. Walter Inabinett with the OPD said the investigation began earlier in the day after 49-year-old Michael Eugene Zebarcki allegedly attempted to get the child, described as an “acquaintance,” to enter the basement of his home “for immoral purposes.”

Inabinett did not comment on the specifics of the case as the investigation remains ongoing; however, he did say investigations found probable cause to jail Zebarcki on the class C felony.

Zebarcki remains in the Covington County Jail on a $150,000 bond.

“Typically, an ‘enticing a child for immoral purposes’ charge has a $10,000 bond; however, (the OPD) received information that Mr. Zebarcki was in the process of moving back to his home state of Mississippi, which would make him a possible flight risk,” Inabinett told The Star-News Friday.

Inabinett said the county district attorney’s office is also assisting in the investigation.
