Anna Harrelson’s RBI single in the top of the 12th inning was just enough to push Opp to a 1-0 victory over Kinston on Tuesday night.

OHS senior Octavia Thompson, who hadn’t gotten a hit during the entire game, hit a double to lead the top-half of the inning.

“You can’t prouder of holding (Kinston) to a shutout in 12 innings,” OHS coach Jimmy Reeves said. “That’s just unheard of.”

Harrelson also earned the win on the mound as she pitched seven shutout innings after coming in in the bottom of the sixth.

Katlynn Schively and Courtney Chatham pitched the first five innings of the game for Opp (31-6-1).

Reeves said the pitchers did a good job of getting out of some jams.

“We got out of several of them with either no or one person on base,” he said. “We were very fortunate. We made some good plays and clutch plays.”

During the course of the game, senior left-fielder Cayla Hughes put a lot of pressure on the Lady Bulldogs’ defense, Reeves said.
