To stay on the same swim page, the Andalusia Stingrays added another meet to their summer schedule.

Andalusia will travel to Troy tomorrow night, where the Stingrays will compete in their final regular season meet before district next month.

Stingrays swimmers have been competing in several events during each meet this summer to determine which ones they are closer at accomplishing their state qualifying time, Andalusia coach Gavin Donaldson said.

Each swimmer can only swim three individual events and two relays at district.

Donaldson said the Troy meet this week will just be a “tune up” in the lead up to district, which will be held July 11-13 in Eufaula.

“This is just a tune up meet of what they will be competing in at the district meet,” he said. “We’ll get to see how they have progressed on their cutting time.”

Warm ups tomorrow are at 5 p.m. at the Troy Parks and Recreation Department, just off of Elba Highway in Troy. The meet begins at 6 p.m.

Donaldson said this meet is essential for the swimmers.

“We have had swimmers who have missed some of the other meets, and this will give them one more opportunity,” he said. “The coaches will see what needs to be worked on from a competitive environment with two weeks before district.”
