Turnout was fantastic at the first of two tryouts for next month’s Meredith’s Miracle’s fundraiser, Cookies with Characters.

More than 50 area students auditioned for their favorite character Thursday at Andalusia’s First Baptist Church, and there is an opportunity for even more.

Tryouts will again be held on Tues., Jan. 14 from 6-8 p.m. Organizers said more than 100 volunteers are needed for the Feb. 22 event.

Organizers are asking that those who try out keep in mind physical characteristics of the characters when choosing a role to audition for, such as girls choosing Disney princesses with similarly colored hair.

Meredith’s Miracles is a non-profit organization that helps families with ill members with non-medical related costs.
