Locals woke up to freezing temperatures this morning, with lows expected to be around 31 today.
A freeze warning was in effect until 7 a.m.
Chilling winds made their way through Covington County on Tuesday, prompting many to put on their jackets to combat the frigid temperatures.
“Freezing temperatures are expected away from the coast early Wednesday morning,” a hazardous weather outlook statement from the National Weather Service said. “These temperatures could damage or kill sensitive vegetation and crops. A freeze warning is in effect for the majority of the forecast area with the exception of coastal Alabama and northwest Florida.”
Today’s high will be around 62. The low tonight will be around 36.
A 30 percent chance of showers will move into the area on Thursday after lunch, and the night will bring a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.
Friday’s high will be around 77 with a 60 percent chance of rain.
