Florala scored one run each in the final two innings, and got out of a bases-loaded jam in the seventh to claim a 2-1 area victory over Red Level Thursday night.

The Wildcats trailed 1-0 after the Tigers got on board in the third inning.

FHS tied the game in the sixth, and went ahead in the seventh.

Red Level had bases loaded with one out in the seventh, but the next two batters in order struck out and grounded out to first to help FHS escape with the win.

“It went about what I expected,” FHS coach Bubba Nall said. “We had our No. 1 pitcher (Austin Franklin) versus their No. 1 pitcher (Jerran Williams).

“I knew they were going to be confident,” he said. “It was a good high school baseball game.”

Nall said the boys did a good job of battling throughout the game.

FHS (9-2, 2-0 in Class 1A, Area 3) is back in action on Tuesday at Pleasant Home for a single area game. The Wildcats need to win the next two in order to win their second straight area title.

In baseball action, Pleasant Home beat Georgiana 17-1.

Corey Self pitched a complete game and gave up two hits.

Lucas Denny hit a two-run home run, his first of the year.
