Anyone who signs up for next weekend’s Rattlesnake Rodeo 5K by tomorrow will get one heck of a deal, organizer Gary Strickland said.

Those registered by April 5 – or whose registrations are postmarked by April 5 – will not only receive a commemorative T-shirt, but also a wristband granting free admission to the Rattlesnake Rodeo.

“They can use it any time,” Strickland said. “They can leave the run and go to the show, or come back that night and enjoy the music.”

Easton Corbin will highlight Saturday night’s entertainment.

The run divides participants into 9 and under; 10-14; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75-79; and 80 and older. Prizes of $50 will be awarded to the fastest male and female runner. Division winners also will be recognized.

For those who walk the course, there will be an overall male and female winner, followed by a top 5, for a total of 12 awards.

A fun run has been added for kids this year, and Strickland said all ages are welcome.

This is the third time a 5K has been a part of the Rattlesnake Rodeo, and there were 115 participants registered Thursday. In 2012, the event drew more than 200 participants.

The 5K begins with a short program at 8, and the run will start at approximately 8:30.

Registration is available on active.com, or forms can be downloaded from the city’s web site. The run will be chip timed.

Proceeds from this event will go to the Bobcat Boosters.
