It’s not too late to join the 2014 Relay for Life fundraising effort, committee chairman Larry Brown said Friday.

“As of right now, we have about 15 teams registered, and we’re still wanting to develop 20,” he said. “It’s not too late to register and participate.”

Anyone who’d like to join the effort is invited to attend the committee’s meeting at 6 p.m. Tues., April 8, at Holiday Inn Express.

Bank night, which is an opportunity for teams to turn in their fundraising proceeds, is set for 5:30 p.m. on Thurs., April 17. Funds also can be mailed to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life at P.O. Box 1653, Andalusia, AL 36420.

Covington County’s annual Relay for Life will be held on Fri., April 25, on the midway at the Kiwanis Community Center.

Southeast Alabama Gas District is the luminary sponsor, Brown said, and is selling luminaries in honor or memory of those who’ve fought cancer.

Andalusia Regional Hospital is the sky lantern and touch of hope sponsor. Lanterns are $25 and torches are $75, and are available in the administrative wing at ARH.
