Straughn split with Russell County in doubleheader action on Saturday.

The Tigers fell 3-2 in game one, but came back to win game two, 10-2.

Brennan Head pitched a complete game in the first, allowing three runs on four hits. Head struck out seven and walked one.

Straughn led 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning after Austin Worley hit a two-run single to score Ethan Wilson and Shane Jones with two outs.

RCHS tied the game in the top of the fourth inning.

After six innings, RCHS led 3-2 and would end up holding that lead until the final out.

In game two, the Tigers (14-14) scored 10 unanswered runs after falling behind early.

Riley Eiland allowed no runs on five hits in 6.2 innings of work to get the win on the mound.

By the third inning, SHS led 6-2.

The Tigers put together a four-run fifth inning when Lane Sirmon earned an RBI on an error and later scored on a single by Taylor Messick.

Keith Edgar wrapped up the scoring attack with a double over the center fielder’s head to score Messick.

Worley and Gunner Wise went 2-for-4 each to lead SHS; and Messick went 1-for-1.

The Tigers close out the regular season today with the start of a three-game area series against Excel. SHS visits EHS today for one game, and then will hold senior night during a doubleheader on Thursday at home.
