Andalusia won its “biggest” game of the season Tuesday night as the Bulldogs defeated Houston Academy 1-0 in area soccer action in Dothan.

The win put AHS 4-8 overall, and 2-2 in Class 1A-4A, Area 2.

“It was a huge win,” Bulldogs coach Tim Ramsden said. “That was the biggest win of the season so far.”

Ramsden said it was big because HA beat AHS on its home terf earlier this season.

“I was very, very proud of the team (Tuesday night),” he said. “Every one of the starters played really well.”

Trey Ossenfort left the game after about 11 minutes with a knee injury. Afterward, AHS made one sub — for Ossenfort — for the rest of the game.

“They played with a lot of heart,” Ramsden said.

Andalusia got its goal after a scramble in front of the net, where the ball bounced off of an HA defender’s foot for an own goal.

“The effort tonight was great,” the Andalusia coach said. “They believed in themselves. If they put effort like this in every game, we’ll be good.”

The Bulldogs are back in action on Friday at home against Providence Christian.
