Andalusia Full Gospel Tabernacle, better known as “AFGT,” located at 1600 Stanley Ave, celebrated its 27th  anniversary April 13, 2014 .

The church was founded by the Rev Fred and Mary Hunt beginning in April of 1987 in what was formerly known as MarVic Tomato House.  So naturally for many years it was known as the “old tomato house church.” It was nothing more than an old warehouse that was transformed into a church. What was nothing more than a vision became a reality and has been evolving since.

In the past 27 years the church has gone through many renovations, additions, and new facilities. God has blessed AFGT through the years and it is still moving forward.

In 2001 the congregation moved into its new facility and renovated the old church into a wonderful children’s ministry department.

In 1995, Guardian Angel Christian Daycare and Learning Center was established, a ministry of AFGT.  In 2006, the church moved into our new Daycare facility where we minister to approximately 130 children daily.

In 2006, the church acquired a facility that is now its Family Life Center, and is also used for an after school program and summer day camp program known as Camp Te Amo for children ages kindergarten through fifth grade.

“AFGT is honored to serve to the community, and be involved in spreading the gospel in this area,” said Pastor John Hunt. “We are a non-denominational church with a great congregation that is excited about doing kingdom work. Our Sunday morning worship is exciting, filled with great music, praise and worhsip, and preaching. We also have awesome children’s ministries that provide a special time for children ages nursery to 12 years old every Sunday morning. . Our Wednesday night ministry is a time to “Break Out” into age appropriate groups for a time of teaching and sharing. There is something for all ages.”

The first 27 years seemed to pass so quickly, and it is exciting to think where the church will be in the next few years, Hunt said.  Plans are already set for new ministries and events coming soon.
