An Opp man is facing charges of attempted murder after he allegedly beat another Opp resident with a baseball bat.

Opp Police Chief Mike McDonald said Thursday the victim, a 35-year-old male, sought treatment at Mizell Memorial Hospital and officers were called to investigate on Tuesday night.

According to McDonald, the victim was allegedly struck repeatedly with the ball bat at a location on Hardage Circle.

Early Thursday, OPD released that it was looking for a person of interest – Tacomus Darnell James, 28, of Opp.

James was arrested after lunch and is being held in the Covington County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
