Straughn dropped three spots in this week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association football poll.

The Tigers fell 10-7 to St. James, who finds itself at No. 9 in Class 4A, last week in Montgomery. SHS (1-1) previously held the No. 3 spot and now is ranked sixth in the top 10.

Leeds, UMS-Wright, Saks, Thomasville and Haleyville round out the top five of 4A.

Straughn is one of three teams with one or more losses in the top 10.

Andalusia also received votes in the poll, but wasn’t ranked.

In Class 3A, Opp received six points in the poll, but wasn’t ranked.

SHS hosts Headland this week; Andalusia visits Ashford; and Opp has an open week.
