Visitors looking to kick off Labor Day weekend by having a rocking good time will get their chance as Cypress Landing RV Park and Campground host an Elvis tribute concert event tonight.

Dothan disc jockey Jerome Jackson will sing Elvis’s popular songs, and country artist Hallie Long is slated to perform.

The event starts at 6 p.m. with Long performing the first hour and third hours. Jackson will perform during the second hour of the event.

Cypress Landing Owner Clifton Hall said the event is being held to draw interest in the park.

“We’re trying to create some customers for our park, and it’s not for any other reason,” Hall said.

Hall said the open barn at the park will be the event’s venue, and there has been a lot of feedback from folks who are attending.

“We got our park about two-thirds to three-quarters full,” Hall said. “We’ve pre-sold quite a few tickets. We don’t know how many are going to be here.”

Tickets cost $6 at the gate, and $5 in advance.

Cypress Landing Manager Don Mathis said there will be hot dogs, hamburgers, pulled pork sandwiches, among others, sold at the event.

“People can come early, get their tickets and place their chairs,” Mathis said. “Most people like to sit in their own chairs. On Saturday morning, people will start placing chairs.”

Additionally, Mathis said the campground would also provide seating for event-goers.

Mathis said the general store will stay open until 11 p.m.

“We’d love for everybody to come,” he said. “Anybody can come. We don’t care. Come by boat or car.”
