Bulldogs give fans a show

The Andalusia Bulldogs put on a scrimmage Friday night at Andalusia High School, and many fans showed up to help the Bulldogs kick off the 2016 football season.

“Considering the circumstances and the wet field, I thought they looked pretty good tonight,” Andalusia head coach Trent Taylor said. “Under normal circumstances, I wouldn’t have attempted to even play this tonight, but we haven’t been able to get outside all week.”

The rain kept the Bulldogs indoors this whole week, and the Bulldogs needed some practice outside, Taylor said.

“The indoor facility is amazing, but we just can’t do everything in there,” Taylor said. “We can’t really pass as much inside, and Wain (Yongkuma) hasn’t had a chance to kick outside before tonight. It was something we needed to do.”

Taylor said field conditions didn’t allow the Bulldogs to fully scrimmage like he would have liked them to.

“It was good to do, but the field kept us from going how I wanted,” Taylor said. “I would have liked to have gone longer and seen more of the younger guys, but it is what it is.”

Taylor said that before the scrimmage Friday night he gave the Bulldog players a challenge.

“We aren’t where we need to be right now,” Taylor said. “I challenged the guys tonight to start making improvements every day. That’s on them. They have to come in each day with the right attitude and prepared each day.”

Taylor said considering the conditions he thought the team did a nice job.

“I thought the offensive line got after it pretty well tonight,” Taylor said. “It’s no secret that’s where we lost the most and needed the most work. I don’t want to say to much until I go back and watch the film, but just standing down there I thought they all really got after it.”
