The No. 3-ranked Opp Bobcats (3-0) hit the road Friday night for a Class 3A, Region 2 battle with Houston Academy (1-3), as the Bobcats look to keep their season perfect.
“They are a very well coached team,” Opp head football coach Brent Hill said. “He is a been there for awhile now and is a very sound coach. I want to see us go into this game with a business-like approach and take this team to the next level.”
This is a game that Hill said the Bobcats must focus on themselves.
“I look at this game as game that we have to get better on fundamentals,” Hill said. “We have to be concerned about getting ourselves better more than who our opponent will be. As a coaching staff, we will have them prepared for Houston Academy, but our main focus is improving our team.”
The Bobcats have started the season off strong, but Hill said he knows they can get better.
“The thing I’m the most proud of so far this season is that these kids know we can be better,” Hill said. “There is still plenty of room for growth. Wicksburg was a good game for us, but we know we could have done more. Wicksburg had a lot to do with that, but we still know we can get better.”
Hill said that there are certain areas where the Bobcats need to find improvement.
“On offense, we have to get better at blocking on the perimeter,” Hill said. “We have to stay on our blocks and keep our feet driving. On defense, we have to get better on gap exchanges and understanding what offenses are wanting to do.”
Friday night will be the first football contest between Opp and Houston Academy.
The game is scheduled to kickoff at 7 p.m., Friday in Dothan.
