The Andalusia Junior High School Bulldogs picked up a big 28-12 victory over the Greenville Tigers Thursday night in Andalusia.

Andalusia kicker/quarterback Jake Wilson started off the contest with a perfectly executed onside kick that Bulldogs’ Ramone Smith recovered the ball for Andalusia.

Josh Gurley got the first two carries of the game totaling 14 yards and a quick Bulldog first down.

A few plays later, Andalusia faced a fourth-and-13 from the Greenville 21-yard line and Wilson connected with Caleb Blackston for a 21-yard touchdown to give the Bulldogs the lead. Brandon Gurley added the two-point conversion to put Andalusia on top 8-0.

Greenville’s first possession didn’t last long as the Bulldogs force a quick three-and-out.

Corban Davis provided solid coverage on a first-down pass, and Chip Morgan sacked the Tigers’ quarterback on third down to force a punt.

The Bulldogs added another touchdown a two possession later to take a 16-0 lead with 5:05 left in the first half.

Wilson rolled to his right and hit Josh Gurley in stride for a 3-yard touchdown. Brandon Gurley tacked on the two-point conversion.

Greenville broke onto the scoreboard with a 7-yard touchdown pass with 15 seconds left in the opening half. Michael Hourel Jr. came up with a big hit on the backfield to stop the two-point conversion attempt.

Andalusia opened up the third quarter with a quick scoring drive capped off by a 9-yard touchdown from Brandon Gurley.

Brandon Gurley also had a 33-yard run to set up the scoring drive.

Brandon Gurley added his second touchdown run of the game on the Bulldogs’ next possession when he busted through the first line of defense and then out ran the secondary for a 47-yard score.

“I was really proud of the way the kids played tonight,” Andalusia Junior High School head coach John Dugger said. “Greenville was a very hard-hitting team, and I’m very proud that we were able to come out with the win. I thought both Gurleys did a good job running the ball and our linebackers Corban Davis and Chase Harper really played well. We have improved each week and that’s what I’m most proud of.”
