After six years in the real estate business locally, Outlaw Realty was bursting at the seams.

Owners MaryAlyce and Barry Outlaw said the business was opened at their home on Gantt Lake in 2010 and in 2013 they moved to their small location on East Three Notch Street.

“We now have six agents and were outgrowing our smaller office,” MaryAlyce said. “This has been a dream.”

Their traffic started increasing and then Barry retired and joined his wife in the business. More agents joined the agency as well.

Barry said their sales have increased every year and their traffic increased.

“We went from where our primary focus was Gantt Lake and to the county and now we are penetrating the city as well,” he said. “We also have properties listed in Opp, Dothan, Troy and Dozier.”

About the time they decided it was time for an expansion or a larger facility, a building across the street came on the market, Barry said.

“Everyone told me I couldn’t do what I wanted to with this building,” MaryAlyce said. “They asked me, ‘Why do you want this building, but Jimmy Fowler made it happen.”

She said the location on that side of town is perfect.

“It’s good for our business because we specialize in Gantt,” Barry said. “And we have 10 rental properties.”

Barry said the new building features a lot more space, offices for each individual Realtor, and some upgraded technology to allow for a better experience for cliental.

“There will be privacy for customers,” Barry said. “We can now project houses on the TV. In our conference room, we can now pull up listings and put them on the TV for our clients to see.”

MaryAlyce described the new office as client friendly.

She said they have some room for some “new blood” in the real estate industry if anyone is interested in pursuing a career in the industry.

“We will train you,” she said.
