County to seek AG’s opinions

The Covington County Commission agreed Wednesday to seek two legal opinions from the Alabama Attorney General’s office.
Chairman Bill Godwin asked the commission to seek the opinions. The first is for clarification on a proposed redistricting that would move commissioners from at-large to district elections, county administrator Karen Sowell said.
The second opinion sought is for guidance on how the county might spend funds at Point A Campground. The request came on the heels of a discussion about whether the county is responsible for repair bills at the campground, or whether the tenant who is leasing and operating the campground should pay the bills. An action item on the agenda about the issue was tabled.
