Becky Bracke was sworn in as Opp’s first female mayor.

She was joined by her new council – Chad Jackson, Charlotte Hunt, Gary Strickland, LaVaughn Hines and Skipper Spurlin.

The council appointed:

• Strickland as mayor pro tem;
• Larry Grissett as city prosecutor;
• Connie Smith as city clerk;
• David Baker as city attorney;
• Bart Boothe as city judge;
• Paul Adams as public defender;
• Carr, Riggs and Ingram as city auditor;
• Spurlin, Hines and Charles Willis to the utility board;
• Hunt as city treasurer;
• Jason Bryan to SEAGD board;
• Hines as city chaplain;
• Cory Spurlin as fire chief;
• Mike McDonald as police chief;
• Kevin Chance as assistant police chief;
• Willie Edwards as parks and recreation director;
• Gary Frazier as street and sanitation director; and
• Chad Jackson as the ex-officio member of the planning and zoning board.
